Petit bonheurs

I’ve been working on some teeny tiny Christmas boxes.

My mum mentioned recently that ever since I was little I have delighted in very small things, she said that if it was in miniature I would like it. When she told me this I realised that a dolls' house, a beehive, a picture book are all tiny secret worlds that you can explore. I made this teeny tiny box to thank her for the revelation, and then realised that my trade mark Christmas present of buying a letterpress tray for the people I love, and filling it with tiny gifts in subsequent years, is just another example of her observation in action.

There is nothing bigger than life’s small pleasures.
