I’ve been asked to illustrate a scientific paper about how a fleet of sail-boat oyster fishers in Falmouth could have provided a solution to our dwindling supply of native oysters in Britain.
This was my first freelance commission since moving onto Briar, a narrow boat currently moored at Kew marine. I enjoyed painting the traditional gaff rig sailing boats from within my floating home, which is pulled to a slightly adventurous angle each day and night by the tides. After supporting the EDF’s sustainable fisheries campaign last June, I love it when different aspects of my freelance portfolio join together like this.
